I think it aptly represents the upcoming generations of developed and developing countries. So, is this growth of AI really helping us develop? Yes, but destructively.
The first thing we look for in the morning is our mobile phone. Our lives have become so dependent on technology that simple calculations and basic knowledge have to be looked up on the internet.
Nowadays, ChatGPT is quite talked about. It's a software that can have human-like conversations. You can search about anything and it will reply to you like a human being would. You will see many advantages of it, but are there no cons? There are many. I'll talk about a few. The first is humanisation of a robot. The fact that ChatGPT can respond like a human is, in itself, concerning. It is said that it can remember the previous conversation and give its next reply, hence it can also give therapy sessions. It would slowly and gradually deprive our thinking capabilities. The problems which are meant to be solved by you, are now being solved by a software. It can also give real-life advice on finance, investments, diet and even on one's any kind of relationship. In my opinion, why would anyone want a chat system to overview and have a say in their relationships? It obviously cannot know you better than yourself!
Looking back 10 years from now, only a few places were rich enough to have technology. But looking 10 years ahead from now, I think rarely any place would be left on the Earth which could not be connected through technology or the Internet. Technology is not only marking us lethargic physically but also mentally. Who knows in the near future even our part of thinking and decision-making would be done by robots!

ReplyDeleteThose are some good views and yeah in the upcomming years I too think the AI is going to influence minds and lives of many normal people because those who are at top would decide their decisions themselves . The AI nowdays can even switch on and off lights just imagine if there is a big corporation in near future and they use this technology and a bug appears in the AI then won't all the people litreally be controlled by an AI and by that time I think many people would loose too much of their thinking ability

I've seen a lot of people talking about the dangers of AI lately, but I've been an AI enthusiast myself even before this sudden wave of AI rose up. It was well predicted from a long time ago itself that something like this was going to happen. People are sharing their concerns. But, honestly, I don't think we can stop this evolution at this point. We can just accept it as what it is. If you are talking about deprivation of human abilities, but it's why the inventions are made. See it this way, a long time ago, a man used to walk long distances by himself and without any transportation. He used to cross places even during warm weather. It was much time consuming, but because of it, his abilities have extended. He wasn't dependent on any means of transportation. A decade later, cars were introduced. The ability of people to walk long distances and tolerate hot climate decreased because they could now travel long distances in their AC cars. Car is a common thing today, an invention of a great mind, but it has also decreased our human capabilities. Similarly, it is with the calculator. When it was invented, many professors and educational institutions opposed it because they thought it would make human beings dependent on themselves. It kind of did, but now, it now has become a part of our life. We can do basic calculations ourselves but for complex calculations, we need a calculator. See? Every invention has a hand in decreasing human capabilities, but they were all unavoidable. It's the similar case with AI. We can't avoid it. What we can do is accept it and learn to work with it. It's just a matter of perspective. I see these technologies as our extensions. These are actually helping us to advance. Look at it this way — you've become a scientist and there are tens of thousands of formulas that you'll have to use in different parts of your journey as a scientist. What would you do? Cram all these formulas? No. Even if you cram it, you won't be able to recall it if you haven't used it in three-four years. It's just how human mind works. When you need a particular formula, you can search it up on search engine and then carry on with your research. (Mostly every research centre has a good wifi, I suppose). Just like a hard disk can be connected to a system to extend its storage capabilities, these technologies are also helpful in extending what we can do. See the positives, miss. Thank you.
